This portal provides detailed sex-disaggregated data on human resources in agricultural research. This is an essential tool that helps decision makers and research managers to set priorities and benchmarks, and allows them to monitor progress over time.
Agricultural Science and Technology Indicators (ASTI's) benchmarking tools benchmarks, ranks, and compares countries in relation to spending on agricultural research and number of researchers. The visualization allows users to map and rank countries in terms of spending, annual growth, share of agricultural gross domestic product, volatility, and donor share in funding. Users can also explore, rank, and compare countries by the number of full-time equivalent researchers, growth in the number of agricultural researchers, and share of researchers with PhDs, researchers who are older than 50, and female researchers.
Transparency is essential for effective public spending and achieving development goals. The Statistics on Public Expenditures for Economic Development (SPEED) database contributes to transparency by providing an open-access interactive tool for analyzing public expenditure data. The tool allows users to explore spending data collected from 147 countries for the period 1980–2012.
