Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados) passed by the National Congress of Brazil on August 14, 2018, will come into effect on August 15, 2020. The law governs the processing of personal data in Brazil including collection, storage, transfer, deletion and other activities related to personal data. The law applies to any individual or organization (public or private) that collects or processes personal data in Brazil, regardless of where the organization is based.
